National Healthcare Reform Conference™ to Address Challenges of Reform and the Health Reform Bill

June 30th, 2010 Comments off

With the passing of the Healthcare Reform Bill, PPACA, healthcare as we know it in the US has changed.  Emotions run strong from people supporting it and those who oppose it.  Healthcare reform made sweeping changes to the health insurance system and expanded health insurance coverage, but did so without addressing many of the underlying problems within our healthcare system that cause inefficiencies and increased healthcare costs.  Such challenges have created a need for a platform to discuss solutions and answer.  Renowned world leaders are gathering together National Healthcare Reform Conferencein Los Angeles. www.healthcarereformconference.com

“The Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act will change the way many employees receive their coverage and affect the type of health plans workers are allowed to have. Many firms not currently offering coverage will face fines beginning in 2014, while some firms may find their plans do not meet new requirements, “said Devon Herrick, Senior Fellow at the  National Center for Policy Analysis. “Conference attendees will learn about their obligations under the new law and how to navigate employers’ and employees’ options,” he added.

Employers, Insurance Companies and Americans will have new challenges to face, as every American is affected differently by healthcare reform.  People who are sick will see their health insurance costs go down as healthy Americans may see their prices increase, and older Americans will see their health insurance costs go down as younger Americans may see their prices increase.

“Bringing together a dynamic and diverse group of health care leaders, government officials and industry experts, this Conference will engender thoughtful and timely discussion about how the landscape of health care is changing. I am pleased to be a part of this important opportunity to address the challenges and implications of the health care law for all Americans,” said Therese Vaughan, CEO of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).

The National Healthcare Reform Conference™ is the first conference in the US to address the problems, challenges and obstacles of implementing Healthcare Reform.  The conference, which is sponsored by the Healthcare Reform Magazine, www.healthcarereformmagazine.com, will focus on how healthcare reform affects employers, insurers, insurance agents, healthcare providers and patients and will peel back the onion of the thousands of pages of healthcare reform bill to look at how different aspects of health care reform will really work.

Maureen Ross, Senior Meeting Manager of the National Healthcare Reform Conference stated, “this conference will bring together all the senior leaders in the healthcare sector to share their knowledge and collaborate on how to comply and work under the new healthcare reform law.  Some of the top experts in the US will be sharing their knowledge such as the CEO of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the American Medical Association, the CEO of the National Association of Health Underwriters, the President of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, National Center for Policy Analysis, Thomson Reuters, Milliman and other leading experts.”

The National Healthcare Reform Conference™ targets 500 healthcare leaders to the conference, and because of high demand upon announcing the conference organizersnow expect registration to be sold out.

The National Healthcare Reform Conference™ is part of the Employer Healthcare Congress, www.employerhealthcarecongress.com, which is one of the leading healthcare conferences in the country with a focus on employers.

This conference is brought to you by the Employer Healthcare Congress, organizes the leading employer focused healthcare conferences, which includes the National Corporate Wellness Conference, www.corporatewellnessconference.com, the National Voluntary Benefits and Limited Medical Conference, www.voluntarybenefitsconference.com, the National Self Funding  Employer Healthcare and Workers Compensation Conference, www.selffundingconference.com, and the National Healthcare Reform Conference.

This week the Medical Tourism Association is exhibiting at SHRM, The Society for Human Resource Management; one of the largest employer conference in the country. “This is one of the Medical Tourism Association’s initiatives that educate employers about medical tourism. During the first day of exhibiting we have talked to hundreds of employers who are interested in medical tourism.  We will be inviting many of these employers to the MTA’s 3rd Annual World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress, September 22-24th, 2010 in Los Angeles, California through our VIP Buyers Program.  We are very happy about the employers’ level of knowledge and interest in medical tourism,” said Jonathan Edelheit, CEO of the MTA who is managing the MTA’s booth at the conference.

“Many are even more optimistic about medical tourism because of recent healthcare reform and a common belief amongst U.S. employers that it will significantly increase healthcare costs. Employers are much more open to the idea of medical tourism than ever before.”

The Most Efficient Healthcare System Goes To…

June 23rd, 2010 Comments off

The Commonwealth Fund report conducted a study testing healthcare systems’ five areas of performance—quality, efficiency, access to care, equity and healthy lives. The UK’s health system ranked #1 in ‘Efficiency’. The US came in last. Among the other seven industrialized countries included were Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and New Zealand. The Netherlands led the way in ‘Overall Health System’ and short waiting times. According the article by BBC News, “the US differs from the other countries studied because it does not have a universal health insurance system”.

To arrive at the survey’s results, more than 27,000 patients and primary care doctors were surveyed across all seven countries, starting in 2007.

Israel: An Emerging Center for Medical Tourism

June 22nd, 2010 Comments off

In a recent conference held in Tel Aviv, Israel, it was discussed that Israel could become a leading destination for medical tourism. It was also said that “there is a need to join forces under a single brand for the country’s entire medical system, not to invest in marketing each individual medical center separately.”

Israel is an ideal candidate for medical tourism because of the high-quality of care it offers. It has many respected centers in the field of oncology, fertility treatments, bone marrow transplants and orthopedics. Israel also has lower healthcare prices in comparison to many Western countries. Medical Tourism Association Expands Globally

June 9th, 2010 Comments off

The President of the Medical Tourism Association announces the opening of two new representative offices in Brazil and Germany, which are in line with ongoing expansion strategies of the association. The current expansion will give opportunities to Latin America and Europe based government and private business bodies to get assistance from the association to develop Medical Tourism Strategies within their country.

These new offices are to join the already existing offices of the MTA located  all across the globe in South Korea, Costa Rica, United Arab Emirates, Israel, Turkey, Argentina and the headquarters located  in the United States.

“We have been providing educational workshops around the world to bring governments and stakeholders together to make informed decisions on medical tourism programs.  The opening of our Germany and Brazil offices will allow our Regional Representatives the ability to work collaboratively with the MTA to develop these programs in Latin American and Europe as a whole,” says Ms. Renée-Marie Stephano, President of the Medical Tourism Association.

“This is an exciting time for medical tourism industry, as the industry is growing rapidly within several geographies; hence the Medical Tourism Association looks forward to the expansion of strategies and services to develop enhanced global educational platforms,” added Ms. Stephano, who is also Chief Editor of the leading Medical Tourism Magazine.

The two new representative offices will be: one in Brazil, well-recognized for its beauty and cosmetic excellence and another in Germany, where medical perfection and wellbeing are the name of the game.

The new offices in Brazil and Germany will serve as launch points for the medical tourism sector and will work closely with both US health insurers and medical tourism facilitators to promote their destinations for patients seeking to travel for a high level of quality care at a much lower cost.

Medical Tourism Association is the world’s largest and respected Association for rapidly growing education in the Medical Tourism Industry. Regional Officers have been appointed to identify and effectuate several of these educational workshops each year in their region so groups with unified interests may share ideas and create a platform for their collaboration.

The Medical Tourism Association is made up of the top international hospitals, healthcare providers, medical tourism facilitators, insurance companies, and other affiliated companies and members with the common goal of promoting the highest level of quality of healthcare to patients in a global environment. The Association promotes the interests of its healthcare provider and medical tourism facilitators members. The Medical Tourism Association has three tenets: Transparency, Communication and Education.

The association is also hosting its 3rd edition of the World’s largest Medical Tourism Congress in September in LA, which is also the official event of the world’s leading Medical Tourism Magazine.
